Karen Holness is a triple threat whom not only works extensively in film and television but also in theatre and singing on stage with her bands Jazz Baby and Boogie Fever.
This past year Karen has been seen on multiple hit TV series including Almost Human, Once Upon a Time and Psych in addition to returning to her Series Lead role to Season 4 of Aptn's Cashing In.
Karen’s other television credits include Smallville, Flight 93, Riverworld, Trust, Fighting the Odds, Ees and Ohs, Saved and Mrs. DoLittle in Dr DoLittle, Emily Barnes in Twitches and Gordina in the TV Series Jpod which was written and co-produced by the world renowned novelist Douglas Coupland.
These notable credits add to Karen’s impressive resume which includes working with Danny Glover in Dpnovans Echo, Laurence Fishburne in Tortured, Mira Sorvino in Finding Mrs. Clause as well as the all star cast of Out of Order comprised of William H Macy, Eric Stoltz, Felicity Huffman, Peter Bogdanovich and Justine Bateman.
Karen started her career in the entertainment industry by attending Performing Arts High School in Toronto before transferring to American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. She went on to be part of the co-founding administrative staff of Beacon Theatre Company and began her career on stage in such shows as Rent and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which lead to winning a role in the film version of Chicago and this past year, playing the role of Deena Jones in Dreamgirls.
When Karen’s not on set or in the theatre, she performs with her band Jazz Baby who has played their Latin rhythms and lush iconic melodies internationally at the Jamaican Jazz and Blues International Festival in Montego Bay. She can also bee seen showing her musical versatility by kicking up heels with her R&B/Disco/Soul band Boogie Fever.
Karen’s staggering and multifaceted talent, extensive experience and vivaciousness has ensured a long career in entertainment which is only just getting started as she shines brighter with each role she embarks on.
